It was totally awesome to follow all the messages that where live tweeted from the ESA headquarters in Darmstadt. It was also very exciting. Nobody did know if a link could be established between Rosetta and Philae tonight. Philae’s solar panels didn’t catch enough sunlight to charge the onboard battery the battery would be depleted soon. […]
Last Wednesday, ESA Netherlands organized a live media event at SpaceExpo in Noordwijk The Netherlands to watch the landing of Philae on comet 67P. I was happy to be invited, and that I could share in the joy en excitement, when the signal of the save landing of Philae on 67P was received by ESA […]
After landing on 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko (shortened to 67P) , Rosetta.s lander Philae is still in good shape and has already transmitted about 80% of the planned science data. You can call this a big success!
Yesterday 12 November Philae made a successful landing on 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. It did not just land one time, but bounced back and landed three times. Clearly the harpoon system didn’t fire so Philae made two hops. First landing 15:34 UTC incoming 1m/s outgoing 48 cm/s and jumped up for about 1km Second landing about two hours […]
Separation of Philae has been confirmed. Philae is underway to comet comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko and I will be underway to the ESA Rosetta press event in Noordwijk @Spaceexpo. There is a direct link with the ESOC headquarters in Darmstad so that’s going to be a lot of fun! It looks like Philae has a minor problem […]

This NASA video puts some perspective on the difficulty of the Rosetta mission. Since the space age began Space agencies has succeeded to land on only six bodies. Venus Mars, the Moon, Titan and Astroids 433 Eros ad Itokawa. If all goes well Rosetta and her lander Philae will add a seventh member to the […]
Rosetta and Philae are preparing for the big day. On 12 november Philae will decent to the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. Watch how they prepare to land Philae on the landing spot that is now named Agilkia
