Yesterday 12 November Philae made a successful landing on 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. It did not just land one time, but bounced back and landed three times. Clearly the harpoon system didn’t fire so Philae made two hops. First landing 15:34 UTC incoming 1m/s outgoing 48 cm/s and jumped up for about 1km Second landing about two hours

Rosetta Philae landing place naming contest (now closed)

Rosetta’s lander Philae is due make a soft landing on comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko on 12 November. Rosetta, Philae and the comet all have a name’s, but the planned landing spot is just name landing place “J”. As a lot of people remember Amstrong’s words “Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed”, naming a historic landing
